The database contains details about Jewish immigrants who applied to the
JCA &
ITO's information bureaux which were scattered all over the Pale of Settlement in the Russian Empire in the early twentieth century. The MJMD includes records of applications between 1904 and 1914 only.
The database includes a card for each immigrant, with all his or her:
» Personal details
» Country of origin
» Sailing record
» Country of destination
» Emigrant's relatives
» Remarks
and a copy of the original document.
You may search the database for the emigrant's record by entering emigrant's first name and/or last name with at least 3 letters.
In order to reduce search results and to be more specific, enter the emigrant's gender and/or his or her country of destination.
For the emigrant's record you must sign in, and then you may view each of the record's details or select some and then view details.
When the immigrants’ names were entered into the database, an attempt was made to retain the full names as written by the bureau clerk and not as they are customarily spelled today. For this reason, for example, the name Cohen is spelled Kohen on this site, and America is spelled Amerika. Therefore, when looking for a relative on the site, try a few possible spellings of the surname.
